New funding to help landowners tackle weeds and pest animals
Issued on:
September 15, 2020

Landholders in Wellington are being urged to apply for local funding of up to $3,000 along with additional support to help tackle weed and pest animals on their properties.

Wellington Shire Council has joined forces with the Maffra and Districts Landcare Network to develop and deliver The Wellington Weeds and Pest Animal Control project (WWePAC).

The project will give eligible landholders access to funding for both on-ground works as well as opportunities to develop new skills in weed and pest management.

The program will include:

  • Support for farmers to develop integrated pest and weed management plans for their properties
  • On-ground grants for works on private land
  • A series of workshops focusing on integrated pest and weed management, using a holistic approach to improve soil health and manage weeds
  • Australian Chemical User Permit training for landholders

The integrated pest management plan will help to move properties away from the cycle of short-term approaches to managing weeds and towards long term management strategies.

To apply, please view the project guidelines and complete an online application form below.

Applications close on Sunday 27 September 2020.

For more information or help with your application please visit the Maffra and Districts Landcare Network website or contact Nicky on 0484 002 296.
